Mechanism of action for benzodiazepines
BDZs selectively act on GABA A receptors (which inhibit synaptic transmission in the Central Nervous System- CNS), by binding at the allosteric site on the receptor to enhance the response to GABA (the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter).
