Dependence on cocaine

 

There is strong psychological dependence associated with cocaine use, particularly due to the craving for the euphoria and stimulation that the drug gives.

 

Withdrawal results in depression, dysphoria, and fatigue due to the down regulation of dopamine systems. Short term withdrawal after administration can occur, such as decreased mental function, but this is restored after                  

re-administration of cocaine.
