Effects of cocaine

After dosing: 

  • Euphoria

  • Excessive rambling

  • Increased motor activity

  • Magnification of pleasure

  • Alertness

  • Increased energy and physical strength

  • The belief of enhanced mental capacity

 

Excessive dosing results in:

  • Tremors

  • Convulsions

  • Respiratory and vasomotor depression

  • Tachycardia

  • Vasoconstriction

  • Increased blood pressure (due to action in the peripheral sympathetic regions)

  • Increased body temperature due to increased motor activity and reduced heat loss
