Brief interventions

Brief interventions are opportunistic and can be carried out by pharmacists, aiming to target those who only have limited contact with drug services, such as needle exchange.

It consists of 2 sessions, between 10-45 minutes in duration, where the aim is to assess the drug user’s ambivalence about their drug use and possible treatment, with the aim of increasing motivation to change their behaviour, whilst remaining non- judgemental.
